About Shine Speech & Drama
Shine Speech & Drama classes inspire confidence and imagination in kids, helping them to communicate effectively and build self-belief that helps them succeed in life. While having fun of course!
These exciting classes are tailor-made for building confidence, individual growth and learning. Kids learn to speak more confidently, communicate more effectively, improve their listening skills and use their imaginations. These skills and the confidence they give build their self-belief.
SPEECH & DRAMA (5 - 18 yrs)
Your child will receive specialised tuition in a small group. Group lessons are typically 45 minutes of intensive, focused activities and are weekly for eight lessons of the school term.
Course includes
Public Speaking (impromptu, prepared, informative, persuasive, special occasion)
Acting Skills (reading out loud, script, devising, improvisation, performing text)
Effective Communication & Manners (telephone, interpersonal, table)
Body Language (eye contact, posture)
Vocal Skills (voice, speech, articulation, grammar)
Poetry Reading & Storytelling

Venues
Shine lessons are available at lunchtimes and/or after school at Churchill Park School, Cornwall Park District School, Ficino, Grey Lynn School, Kohimarama School, Maungawhau School, Parnell District School, St Ignatius School, and Victoria Avenue School. We offer in-school time lessons at Jireh Christian School and King's School. We also offer lessons on Saturdays in Remuera, Red Beach and Albany.
FEES
Group Lessons (maximum 12 students, 45 minute lesson duration) $270 per term (8 lessons). Students can work towards a Shine Achievement Award
Ficino School Small Group Lessons (small groups of 3 or 4 students, 30 minute lesson duration) $310 per term (group of 4, 8 lessons) and $360 per term (group of 3, 8 lessons). Students can work towards a Shine Achievement Award
Exam Lessons (maximum 4 students, 30 minute lesson duration, year 4 and above) $320 per term (8 lessons). Students can work towards SpeechNZ or Trinity examinations
Pair Lessons $405 per term (8, 30 minute lessons). Students can work towards a Shine Achievement Award, SpeechNZ or Trinity examination
Private Lessons $540 per term (8 30 minute lessons). Students can work towards a Shine Achievement Award, SpeechNZ or Trinity examination
Private Lessons (at home) Arranged on a student by student basis. Please contact us directly to arrange.
EXAMINATIONS
We offer our students professional qualifications through Trinity College of London and New Zealand Speech Board. Shine tutored students typically do extremely well in both sets of examinations. Examinations are not compulsory.
